May 13 and 14 - The Learned Owl Book Group discusses The Orchardist
Starting in May, the Learned Owl Book Group will be meeting right at the book shop at 10:30 AM (May 13) and at 7 PM (May 14). New members welcome! Our May book is The Orchardist by Amanda Coplin.
May 15, 6-9 PM - Ladies' Night at Janet Rhodes brings you Fair Trade
Enjoy wine, chocolate and more as you get to be with like-minded women committed to making a difference in the world. Our very own Maryann Wohlwend will tell us about her upcoming trip to Cambodia. Her popular Harvest Hope bag (made by women from the Haven of Rest Shelter) has gone international, and she is traveling with Laurie (a graduate of the sewing program) to start a similar program in Battambang, Cambodia. Their stories of hope and perseverance inspire our own stories to foster good will to others. 5% of purchases for the evening will be donated toward furthering their work.
May 15, 7 PM - Author Rebecca McClanahan at the Hudson Library
Rebecca McClanahan will be visiting the Hudson Library with her memoir The Tribal Knot.
May 16, 7 PM - Author Tracy Chevalier at the Hudson Library
New York Times-bestselling author Tracy Chevalier will discuss her new book The Last Runaway, which includes Hudson's participation in the abolitionist movement. The Learned Owl Book Shop will provide books for purchase at this event.
May 18, 11 AM-1 PM - Designer Nora Fleming at Gracylane
Talented young designer Nora Fleming returns to Gracylane. Make plans now to be among the first to check out her new spring line of serving pieces and adorable new minis. May 23, 1:30 PM - Author Tracy Chevalier at Case-Barlow Farm
On May 23, join us for a more intimate engagement with Tracy Chevalier at Case-Barlow Farm, which will include light refreshments and tours of the farm house. Tickets are available for $20 at The Learned Owl Book Shop, and space is limited. All proceeds from the tickets, as well as a portion of the book sales, will be donated to Case-Barlow Farm.
